Training

Our ponds

ALL LEVELS ARE WELCOME. We have permanent training grounds at 53 Beanes Road, Heathsville VA with access to land and 4 acres of technical water. At each training session, land and water hunt test scenarios are set up by club members and birds are used in most exercises.

OUR LOCATION:  http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Heathsville&state=VA&address=53+Beanes+Rd&zipcode=22473-3944&country=US&latitude=37.820485&longitude=-76.462613&geocode=ADDRESS

The club has a variety of training equipment (boat, wingers, bumpers, holding blinds, decoys); this gives your dog an opportunity to gain some great experience.  We also welcome participant’s requests for training suggestions – if you’re having a particular issue, we’ll try to incorporate it into the day.

Everyone is expected to help set-up, throw birds and move equipment.  Training times run from 8:30am  to about 3pm.   The cost is $5 per dog, maximum $10.  Non-members are welcome – check us out.  Please bring your lunch and plenty of water for your dog.

Below is the planned training schedule for 2010.  Check back periodically for schedule changes, especially during hunt test season (March to June and September to late November). Shenandoah Valley NAHRA test is June 5/6 and NAHRA Southeast Regional is Oct 16/17
